Your grip is the only part of the paddle you touch on every shot. When it wears out, the paddle twists in your hand and you squeeze harder, which costs control and tires your forearm.
Signs it's time for a new overgrip
- It feels slick or shiny, even when dry.
- You see dark patches, fraying or tears.
- You're adjusting your hand between points.
Playing 2-3 times a week? Most players swap overgrips every few weeks. They're cheap, so it's an easy upgrade.
How to wrap it
- Remove the old overgrip (keep the base grip underneath).
- Peel the backing strip from the new overgrip.
- Start at the butt cap, angled slightly, and wrap up the handle with each turn overlapping the last by about a quarter.
- Keep light, even tension so there are no gaps or bumps.
- Cut any excess at the top and finish with the included tape.
Dry or tacky?
Dry-feel grips absorb sweat, great for hot outdoor days. Tacky grips feel sticky, great for cool indoor play. If your hands sweat a lot, add a wristband to stop sweat before it reaches the grip.
