How to Practice Pickleball Alone at Home

No partner? No problem. Some of the best pickleball practice happens alone. These four drills build real skills with a wall and a few balls.

1. Wall dinks (10 minutes)

Stand about 7 ft from a wall and hit soft shots that land just above a line at net height (34 in). Focus on a quiet, compact swing. A dink target mat shows exactly where to aim.

2. Volley reflexes (5 minutes)

Move closer to the wall and volley without letting the ball bounce. Keep your paddle up in front of your chest. This trains fast hands for kitchen battles.

3. Groundstroke grooving (10 minutes)

A solo rebound trainer returns the ball on an elastic cord, so you can hit forehands and backhands nonstop. Focus on low-to-high swings and following through toward your target.

4. Serve accuracy (10 minutes)

Place a towel or target in the service box and serve 20 balls. Count how many land in the target, and try to beat your score next time.

Keep it quiet

Practicing in a garage or apartment? Silent foam balls keep the noise down. The Home Training Bundle includes all three essentials.
